The 4th with Flare
Whether you are in Athens, Atlanta or somewhere in between there is tons to do this holiday weekend that won’t break the bank.
Atlanta, being the city that it is, always has something to offer as we celebrate our country’s birthday, 233rd to be exact. From free and family friendly to a few bucks and big kids only, there is truly something for everyone. Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve found in the search to be patriotic:
The Park Tavern is where the action is this 4th. The location of the finish for the Peachtree Road Race, it’s a great Atlanta tradition that promises a great night.
Centennial Olympic Park is hosting their annual Fireworks display as well as other fun and games for everyone.
Star Community Bar is hosting “The Big 4th in Little Five Points.” Starting at 3 PM the party gets started with live music acts, snow cones, dunk tanks and all kinds of entertainment for the over 21 crowd. There won’t be any real fireworks but for $8 bucks it is a guaranteed bang.
And don’t forget about these fan favorites; Six Flags, Lenox Square (boasting the largest fireworks display in the Southeast), and Stone Mountain will all be hosting their annual shows.
If the big city isn’t your scene and your looking for a more local feel this 4th, head on to Athens where the party is always done in style.
Terrapin Brewery, Athens own local micro brewery is hosting a “4th of July with Terrapin.” There won’t be fireworks but they are introducing a new caste and serving the All American Pilsner with a special commemorative glass. From 5:30 to 7:30 it’s a great way to start the night.
The Melting Point at the Foundry is hosting “The Red White and Brewgrass Festival”. A great music venue any night, it is sure to be a blast this weekend in particular. 14 bluegrass bands on 2 stages and only $15 when you order online. Another great follow up to AthFest.
Star Spangled Classic at Bishop Park where Fireworks are definitely on display. Catch 2 acts if you angle your chair at just the right spot. No matter where you sit it’s going to be a crowd pleaser.
After the fireworks have fizzled head on Downtown, with several new bar openings it’s a great place to end the night. Check out Magnolia bar, Trapeze and Pauley’s as well as all the old favorites.
No matter where you are this summer get out there and celebrate the biggest birthday party of the year!
